MacMillan Coffee Shop ( Last Assessed 2014)

awardAbsolutely stunning drive through the Perthshire countryside on this Bank Holiday Easter Monday . Todays first Assessment was in the beautiful setting of the Ganochy Trusts Woodland Park and the fab volunteers at this very busy Coffee and gift shop. We decided to stay for lunch as the setting and the weather were on our side. I have to say the average age of the volunteers (and this is by no means a discrimination comment -quite the opposite) was about 60 plus and the speed and efficiency was enough to put the younger generation to shame. I was truly blown away by the cleanliness, atmosphere, service, location and most of all food that was served to us today . I had the Chicken broth and was immediately transported back to my Grans kitchen and the same flavour and use of ingredients that she would have used . A lovely array of baked Sponges,Scones and all manner of traybakes were on display for all to see as you enter . They have outdoor seating which means pets are welcome here also. Anyway i digress - The Cakes were then shipped in to my table . A mouthwatering and light Blueberry sponge - oh simply devine. A Chocolate Cake - again hard to get the texture right in most places but this was moist and actually tasted of Chocolate . A lovely Cherry Scone, Chocolate and Cherry Slice and Cherry Bakewell slice were just all perfect . My admiration goes to this whole project where the proceeds go to a much needed Cancer Charity - MacMillan. There should be more places like this that give all ages the experience of working in a motivated and inspirational environment. More power to your elbow Folks - i will be back soon !! Well done and be proud.
