Cecilia Young is our 2014 SHBA Sugar Craft Cake Judge.
"I trained initially as a teacher of Home Economics ( graduating In 1973), where I first developed my continuing passion for cake decoration. I taught in schools and colleges for 8 years before going into industry as a Home Economist for a Unilever
I continued to decorate cakes and develop my skills by taking courses and learning through courses run under the auspices of the British Sugarcraft Guild I then had my own business" The Cake and Chocolate Shop". The first specialist cake decoration retail unit in Edinburgh. This gave me invaluable experience of all aspects of cake decoration. Thereafter I went on to teach cake decoration at The Edinburgh College(formerly Edinburgh's Telford College) where I taught Paul Bradford and many other students.During this time,I was a judge for cake decoration at Scothot( Scotland,s equivalent of Hotelomypia)
For the last 27 years I have been a member of the British Sugarcraft Guild (BSG) and I am now Chairperson of Region On
(Scotland and N.Ireland) I am also Chair of the Edinburgh Branch of the BSG.
This year I have been a verifier for SQA Creative Cake Decoration Unit."
